From the sporty (night golf) to the spectacular (The Dubai Fountain), from cheering at an outdoor concert to stargazing in the desert, Dubai after dark has so much to offer. From the sporty to the spectacular, experience Dubai after dark. As the sun dips down in the shimmering Arabian Gulf and the city’s epic architecture glitters to life, Dubai invites you to discover a whole new side of it — and we don’t just mean its world-famous nightlife. Dubai after dark has so much more to offer.

Nightly every half hour from 6pm to 11pm, The Dubai Fountain in the heart of downtown Dubai comes to spectacular life. Delight in the lights, sights, and sounds of the world’s largest dancing fountain show — 22,000 gallons of airborne water sprayed as high as a 50-story building — synced to classical, Arabic, and world music.

Concert lovers will want to check the event listings at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, where some of the biggest musical acts like Bruno Mars and Alicia Keys get crowds of up to 15,000 cheering. Its location near Dubai Marina means it’s a prime host for other major events like the Dubai International Film Festival, Dubai Jazz Festival, and the Taste of Dubai.

If your interests run more towards the sporty, how about a round of night golf? The Faldo Course at the Emirates Golf Club is the city’s only fully floodlit 18-hole championship course. Open nightly until midnight, with tee times as late at 7:45 pm or 9:55 pm for nine holes, it’s popular with local businessmen looking to get a round in after work. The Track, Meydan Golf at the Meydan racecourse offers an additional nine floodlit holes until 11pm.

Just outside the city, active adventure awaits in the shifting sands after the sun sets. Crave the thrill of dune bashing? Always wanted to ride a camel? Or ponder far away galaxies as a bonfire crackles nearby? Tour companies such as Arabian Adventures and the more upscale Platinum Heritage (vintage 1950s Land Rovers and Mercedes G-class 4x4s on a private Royal family desert retreat) offer afternoon-to-evening adventures with BBQ buffet dinners, Emirati treats, traditional performances, and insights into the traditional Bedouin lifestyle. Platinum Heritage also offers the chance to sleep under the stars as part of a luxurious overnight stay in its antique-styled compound lit only by torches.

Closer to home, trade sand for surf with a range of dinner and entertainment cruises on Dubai Creek. Options range from the higher-end dining on the glass-walled Bateaux Dubai, to the enchantingly lit Al Mansour Dhow, a wooden ship outfitted in traditional Arabian style. Both offer romantic nighttime views of the surrounding cityscape.

Quirkier options include the crab-shack-inspired Aprons & Hammers in Dubai Marina, and The Boardwalk at Dubai Creek Club’s BBQ Donuts, which are basically bumper boats with a grill for groups of eight.
