Top five experiences for lovers of all things indulgent
The words “Dubai” and “luxury” have become synonymous over the years, and when it comes to planning a decadent stopover, there’s no better city in the world to be. Here are five places for the most luxurious of stopovers.
1. Burj Al Arab’s Culinary Flight experience
When it comes to luxury, there can be no better place in Dubai or, in fact, the world, than the Burj Al Arab hotel. While any activity inside the sumptuous interiors of the all-suite hotel will certainly have more than an element of luxury, perhaps the most decadent is the meal known as the ‘Culinary Flight’.
It comprises food and beverages at all restaurants and nightspots inside the Burj, including the stunning 27th-floor Skyview Bar and the incredible Al Mahara seafood restaurant, which sits alongside a giant floor-to-ceiling aquarium.
2. Check into Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa
A hotel located in the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa, and designed by Giorgio Armani. Has there ever been a more luxurious sentence uttered?
Home to some 160 understated and elegant guest rooms and suites, a serene spa and the famous Armani/Ristorante, the Armani Hotel is a must-visit for lovers of luxury.
3. Helicopter tour of the city
There are many ways to get around in Dubai, but little compares to the feeling of being transported around the city aboard a private helicopter. Local company HeliDubai offers various tours of the city, including a heritage tour, where guests can take in the more traditional neighbourhoods of the city from above, and an explorer tour, which shows off Dubai's new facade in all its glory.
For those who just want to use the chopper to get from A to B and cut out the traffic, there’s always the option of VIP transfers aboard the company’s Augusta 190e helicopters, featuring luxurious hand-stitched leather seats and air-conditioning.
4. Shopping The Avenues at Atlantis The Palm
Atlantis The Palm has an awful lot going for it, with everything from luxurious rooms and restaurants to a private beach and even a waterpark and aquarium all on-site. But one thing that often gets forgotten about Atlantis is the fact that it has its own shopping district, The Avenues.
Expect high-end boutiques from the likes of Chopard, Tiffany & Co, Longines and even Porsche. And for those who just don't know what they want, the resort’s personal shoppers are always available to lend a helping hand.
5. Dine at Imperium, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray
Located in the opulent Jumeriah Zabeel Saray on the Palm Jumeirah, grand 18th-century, French-style restaurant Imperium is luxurious by anyone’s standards, with gilded columns, glistening chandeliers and polished marble floors giving it a feeling of serious grandeur. However, on a Friday afternoon this super-luxe eatery gets even more luxurious.
The Friday Brunch offering here is on another level. Imperium’s Royale Brunch is priced at AED2,500 per person and includes Beluga caviar, private seating and the services of a private butler. Pure decadence.
