Running season kicks off in Dubai this November with not one, but two, of the year’s race highlights.
Starting off on 4 November is the Electric Run, the 5km party that combines light and music with fitness. Don flashing LED bracelets and headgear before making your way along the track at Zabeel Park in the night-time run, grooving to the energising beats in the background. At the finish line, a DJ awaits, ready to spin your favourite tracks for what is sure to be a grand after-party.
Trade in the batteries for a splash of colour at the Color Run. The ‘Happiest 5K on the planet’ returns on 12 November, this time with island vibes. Promising more colour, more music and more happiness, this year’s event will feature a tropical theme complete with palm trees and pineapples. The family-friendly event is open to runners of all levels with only one prerequisite: bring a smile and a positive attitude. Get your tickets now.
Keeping with the fitness theme, a two-day festival dedicated to keeping healthy and active takes place on 4-5 November. Fitness Fest offers a host of activities from free classes to strength competitions for adults and children alike. Headlining the event is Instagram sensation Joe Wicks, known as the Body Coach to his more than 1.5 million social media followers. The personal trainer and nutrition coach will delight guests with easy recipes and quick-paced HIIT workouts.
MORE SPORTING ACTION
For horse racing buffs, the new season of the Meydan Racing Calendar is off to a fine start in November, leading up to the world’s richest horse race, Dubai World Cup, in March. Head down to the grandstand to watch the horses race down the track and enjoy the best of hospitality while you’re there. And if you’d like to go behind the scenes, make sure to book a stable tour for an inside look and a chance to meet the thoroughbred stars.
And for football enthusiasts, there’s the Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup, which takes place on 1-5 November. The event will see the world’s best beach football teams descend on Dubai to battle it out on the beach.
There’s a power-packed line-up of musical acts in Dubai this month. On 11 November, the desert near Bab Al Shams transforms into an outdoor arena for the Sensation music festival, featuring electronic music acts Mr White, DJ YAX and Afrojack, entertaining a crowd of 14,000 music-lovers into the early hours of the morning.
For a more chilled-out experience, you can head to indie-music celebration Party in the Park, also taking place on 11 November. British rock bands Travis, Kaiser Chiefs and The Charlatans will take to the stage in the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre from 6pm, supported by local acts The Boxtones.
But the biggest musical event of the month is the much-anticipated production of Les Miserables, which begins its three-week run on 10 November. The multi-award winning musical based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel is one of the longest running productions in London’s West End. It will be showcased in English at the multi-purpose Dubai Opera and will feature an international cast including current Broadway stars. Book your seats now.
