Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has announced the launch of the 14th edition of the Dubai Ramadan Forum, which will take place from June 24 to July 4, 2015. The Forum will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation.
The announcement was made during a press conference held today (Wednesday, 10 June) at the Al Murooj Rotana hotel. The press conference was attended by Hamad Mohammed bin Mejren, Senior Vice President, Dubai Events & Convention Bureau at the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and General Supervisor of the Dubai Ramadan Forum, as well as representatives of the sponsors and a number of journalists. The press conference was also attended by photographer Abdul Rashid, who had converted to Islam during last year’s Dubai Ramadan Forum.
Hamad Mohammed bin Mejren said: "The Dubai Ramadan Forum aims to spread the enriching values of the Islamic faith and its tolerant teachings aimed at establishing peace and harmony amongst people of diverse nationalities. The emirate of Dubai serves as an excellent model of this wonderful coexistence, as you know the city is home to more than 200 nationalities from around the world living together as one big multicultural family."

The agenda for the Forum includes a number of main and auxiliary activities and events targeted at different segments of the society and various age groups, including:
Insightful social and religious lectures in Arabic with simultaneous interpretation in English will be conducted as part of the Forum, which will be led by a number of well-known Islamic scholars and public speakers, offering audiences the opportunity to enrich their lives with the teachings of Islam. The lectures will cover a wide range of topics related to social and religious issues. Lectures will also be conducted in five foreign languages, with a view to encouraging more residents to participate in the sessions and benefit from the teachings of the great Islamic religion. Prominent Islamic scholars and preachers presenting lectures in Arabic include Sheikh Saeed bin Misfer, Sheikh Dr. Sa’ad Al Shathri, Sheikh Saleh Al Mughamsi, Sheikh Sulaiman Al Jubailan, Sheikh Uthman Al Khamis and Sheikh Omar Abdul Kafi. The lectures in foreign languages will be presented by Sheikh Khalid Yasin in English, Sheikh Hussain Salafi in Malayalam, Sheikh Meraj Rabbani in Urdu, Sheikh Motiur Rahman in Bengali, and Sheikh Nazir Okuindo in Tagalog, who will be accompanied by popular Filipino musician Ferdinand (Farid) Aguilar who converted to Islam.
The Arabic lectures will take place from 24 June to 4 July at DWTC – Zabeel Hall, from 10 – 11:30 pm. The lectures in foreign languages will be held at the same venue from 25 – 29 June 2015 from 10 – 11:30 pm. Entrance will be free for public.
"Preacher of the Nation" competition
A competition aimed at honing the skills of young talents in the field of public speaking, poetry recitation and preaching. The event features a number of children who will compete throughout Ramadan for the title of “Preacher of the Nation.”
Exhibition on the History and Art of Arabic Calligraphy
One of the new additions to the calendar of events for the 14th Dubai Ramadan Forum, this exhibition is a unique event that explores the history and art of Arabic calligraphy through the ages, covering its many formats and techniques, with works presented innovatively in the form of three-dimensional sculptures and panels. The exhibition will be held daily from 22 June to 6 July at The Dubai Mall, during mall opening hours. Entrance to the exhibition, which will host 28 calligraphers, of whom 12 are from the UAE, 14 from other Arab and Islamic countries and 2 from Spain showing 70 panels and 7 sculptures, will be free to the public.
A Course on ‘Bridges of Communication with Teenagers’
A training workshop that aims to strengthen the dialogue with the new generation, the workshop will host a number of educational specialists and parents to acquaint them with the best methods of dealing and communicating with teenagers, as well as ways of helping them solve their problems. The workshop will be held over two days, on 12 and 13 June, at Time Hotel Dubai – Al Qusais from 4:30 to 9:30 pm.
Convoy of Goodness Campaign
A USB device containing Islamic materials such as guidebooks and brochures, in addition to the schedule of Daily Lectures will be distributed for free in popular areas of Dubai as part of this campaign.
Origins of the Universe Exhibition
This exhibition sheds light on the inimitability of the Holy Qur’an, and narrates the story of the origins of the universe with translation into English, and will be held from 24 June to 4 July at DWTC, from 10 – 10:30 pm, with free access for the public.
Ramadan Forum Health Campaign
As part of this initiative, leading hospitals and clinics will conduct health awareness campaigns and provide free medical services, including tests for diabetes, blood pressure and other ailments, for the public in several areas in Dubai.
Every year, the Organizing Committee of the Dubai Ramadan Forum hosts mass Iftar events during the month of Ramadan. The Iftar party is attended daily by approximately 4,500 persons from different nationalities, and is hosted at specially erected tents. The first Group Iftar tent is located in the Hor Al Anz area, which can accommodate about 2,000 people a day, while the second tent in the Muhaisnah 2 area, adjacent to labour camps, can host up to 2,500 persons a day. Meals are served in addition to water, juice and dates. The event aims to strengthen the feeling of brotherhood and unity among Muslims and spread the spirit of sharing and togetherness among people who gather in the tents.
Be a Preacher Zone
USB devices containing Islamic educational material are presented to audience members for further distribution among non-Muslims. The idea behind the Zone is to make it easier for anyone to reach out to their non-Muslim colleagues, neighbors and others with the message of the noble religion of Islam. This zone will be hosted from 24 June to 4 July at DWTC, from 10 – 10:30 pm, with free access for the public.
