Dubai’s transport authority has announced the award of a contract to build 400 more air conditioned bus shelters across the emirate. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said it has endorsed the contract for phase two of its bus shelter construction project to Right Angle Media Company on the basis of public-private-partnership. The project will be completed by the end of 2017, and will bring the total number of bus shelters to about 1,295, the RTA said in a statement. Phase two also includes the construction of about 50 smart shelters fitted with free internet service, as well as the smart café for selling snacks and refreshments. About 150 shelters will also be solar-powered, the statement added.
