08 March, 2016

Dubai is undertaking transport projects that will extend its current rail network more than three times, with the emirate’s rail projects including extensions to the red and green lines of the Dubai Metro and an expansion of the Dubai Tram. Chief executive of the Rail agency, Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Younus said the emirate’s network would triple from its current 86km, with the aim of 30 per cent of people travelling via public transport by 2030. The 2020 Red Line extension will see the Dubai Metro extended to the Expo 2020 site via Discovery Gardens and Dubai Investment Park, with a further route planned to Al Maktoum International Airport.
