Responsible for turning traditional Middle Eastern attire on its head, Emirati designer Huda N Nuiami made waves when she launched her contemporary line of turbans, abayas and jalabiyas in 2010. The slim-line cover-ups feature everything from lace hems and embellishments to power shoulders and flared sleeves. Her latest range focuses on neutrals of nude, navy and white, and includes drop waist dresses, off-the-shoulder tops and oversized dragon-fly earrings.

The co-founder of Dubai's most innovative concept store, S*uce (which now has six offshoots including one dedicated to jewellery and another to kidswear), Zayan Ghandour unveiled her own line in 2011. The Lebanese-born designer swung open the doors to her first standalone boutique in upmarket Galleria Mall earlier this year, it's a haven for romantic, girlie textiles and creations, extending to perfectly sized statement clutches.
