UAE announces world’s first Minister of Happiness

In a landmark announcement, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, introduced the biggest changes in the federal government in the nation’s history, which included the appointment of Ohood Al Roumi as the Minister of State for Happiness. The new cabinet focuses on the future vision of the UAE, with an emphasis on youth, happiness, developing education and addressing climate change.
Eight new ministers, five of them women, have joined the federal Government including Shamma Al Mazrui, 22, the new Minister of State for Youth Affairs who will also preside over the Youth National Council. Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, former Minister of International Cooperation and Development, was named the new Minister of State for Tolerance.
The most recent appointments in the UAE Cabinet raises the representation of women to 27.5 per cent. This historic announcement was made by HH Sheikh Mohamed during the World Government Summit, in the presence of more than 150 global political and business elites. The cabinet changes include a total of 29 minsters with some ministries being consolidated such as foreign affairs and education.
