World renowned events choose Dubai as host city

Part of the vision of the UAE Government is to establish the country as a knowledge hub. As the next step to achieving that vision, the government launched the Science, Technology and Innovation’s Higher Policy, which will see an investment of over USD 80 billion in education, healthcare, sustainable energy, transportation, space and water. Not only will this investment act as a catalyst for the next phase of development in the country, it also raises the profile of the UAE for leading global corporations and associations who want to host their conference or exhibition in a place that has the same ambitions as they do.
Dubai is increasingly hosting high-calibre events with influential government and business leaders who bring another level of knowledge to the city. For the first time, the Global Women’s Forum was hosted in the Middle East. Held in Dubai from 23-24 February 2016, over 2,000 participants and 200 speakers discussed the growing influence women have across the world and how to encourage greater contribution and diversity across the business world. This year’s speakers included Queen Rania of Jordan, Chilean president Michelle Bachelet, Mauritian president Ameenah Gurib-Fakim and Christine Lagarde, head of the International Monetary Fund.
The Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), an industry leading peer network of chief executives and business leaders, recently hosted its landmark event, YPO Edge, in Dubai. Each year, the conference addresses the future of global industries and this year’s theme was ‘Vision to Reality’ focusing on how an entrepreneurial attitude can make the impossible possible. Dubai was indeed the perfect location to address the theme as a city that has defied the odds to create a vibrant economy with diverse sectors.
Not only do these events raise the profile of Dubai, they are addressing important global issues and Dubai is proud to play a part in the advancement of these conversations. As Dubai strives to create a knowledge-based economy, hosting globally relevant events is bringing in global expertise and leaving a lasting impression on the city.
