While Expo 2020 Dubai is still four years away, the team has officially launched the Expo 2020 Apprentice Programme. Established in line with the UAE Youth Empowerment Strategy, the programme aims to empower youth who will learn directly from industry experts helping deliver Expo 2020 Dubai.
The programme aims to reflect Dubai’s multicultural society and currently has 27 UAE-based graduates under the age of 28 and comprised of 14 different nationalities.
The programme is nine months long, created to equip local youth with the skills and experiences they need to engage in full-time employment across a range of industries. The young apprentices will graduate in June 2017, beforehand they will complete a series of learning modules as well as real-time work experience within one of the Expo 2020 Dubai departments.
Manal AlBayat, Vice-President of Engagement at Expo 2020 Dubai, said: "By offering apprentices the opportunity to learn from and work directly alongside the team leading the delivery of Expo 2020, the apprenticeship programme represents a gateway to an enhanced professional future in today's globalised world.
"It will also mark a central legacy of the Expo, by supporting the UAE's drive towards a diversified knowledge-based economy, fuelled by skills development, creative thinking and innovation. We are excited to see how the apprentices will develop both personally and professionally over the next nine months, and we look forward to the contribution of these bright and talented young individuals to the various teams."
