For both residents and visitors, and especially useful for event organisers and conference delegates, SmartCity will link Dubai government services to the public through smart devices that have free access to high-speed fibre optic networks. Every smartphone user will be able to access up-to-the-minute information on weather, traffic, entertainment, tourism, flights, dining, emergency services and much more — anytime, anywhere.
By 2017, 1,000 government services will go smart. The plan includes the development of smart and personal boards containing all information and data about the city in one place to make it easy for individuals to communicate with various institutions and facilities in the city.
Smart City has a significant impact on the economies in which it is established by creating a vibrant knowledge economy and communities anchored by leading global, regional and local names in the industry. These all help facilitate knowledge transfer and job creation.
