The city’s numerous business and industrial districts stretch from north of the city, beyond the airport, to all the way south, past Dubai’s ports. These include the Ras Al Khor industrial areas, Al Safa, Al Qusais, Al Quoz and Jebel Ali, the largest man-made harbour in the world. The warehouses of Al Quoz are also home to a number of hip art galleries and a burgeoning art scene, while Ras Al Khor is where many construction companies store their materials and where Dubai’s used-car complexes are located.
Dubai’s many Free Zones are industry-specific, such as Dubai Media City, Dubai Healthcare City and Dubai Silicon Oasis. The authorities within each zone give licences to companies of that specific category.
