The playback singer is a titan in the Indian film industry with a host of timeless movie soundtracks to his name including Om Shanti Om and Dhoom 2. Following his debut in 1990, Nigam took the Indian music industry by storm having won hearts by singing in over 12 languages. Travel through the past and present of Nigam’s award-winning discography when he takes over Dubai World Trade Centre on 10 January.

Amr Diab

Egyptian singer Amr Diab has not only scaled the skyscraping towers of stardom since his debut in the early 1980s but also set the bar for upcoming Arab musicians. Diab created a unique genre of music called Mediterranean Music, a blend of Egyptian and western melodies, and was recently awarded his own billboard in Times Square, making him the first Arab star to appear at the iconic destination. He’s following up the achievement with a concert in the grassy fields of Dubai Media City Amphitheatre on 24 January.

Martin Garrix, Stormzy, Bastille and more at RedFestDXB

RedFestDXB has established itself as one of the biggest music festivals in Dubai and it’s back this February. For two days, some of the music world’s biggest names will descend on Dubai Media City Amphitheatre with chart-topping hits performed live in the open air. This year’s heavyweight line-up features indie pop band Bastille, DJ Martin Garrix, and rap star Young Thug on day one, followed by EDM trio Cheat Codes, Machine Gun Kelly and grime artist Stormzy on day two. From the rallying cries of ‘Pompeii’ to foot-tappers like ‘Animals’, audiences will be able to sample diverse genres back-to-back.

The 1980s pop sensation A-ha is celebrating 35 years of their successful 1985 debut album, Hunting High And Low, with a world tour that stops by Dubai on 11 February. The Norwegian trio behind tracks such as ‘Take On Me’ and ‘Crying in the Rain’ became one of Europe’s most in-demand acts with sales of more than 55 million albums and countless sold out shows. The latter still holds true, as A-ha has fully booked out their show at Dubai Opera well before 2020.

‘Killing Me Softly’ singer Lauryn Hill will set the tone for the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival on 26 February on day one. The soul singer rose to fame with the Fugees in the mid-1990s before setting herself apart with the award-winning, record-breaking solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Audiences are sure to hear many of her genre-defining neo soul tracks at this concert including ‘Doo Wop’, setting the scene for one of Dubai’s most hotly-anticipated music festivals.

In a career spanning five decades, Lionel Richie's weight in the global music industry is all but incontestable. The multi-Grammy and Academy Award winner even received the highest honour in the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2016 – the Johnny Mercer Award. His legend includes hits ‘Hello’, ‘Say You, Say Me’ and ‘We Are The World’, as well a sensational run in the funk and soul band Commodores. He’s carrying on the torch from Lauryn Hill as the second headliner of the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival on 27 February.

Colorado native OneRepublic is injecting a heavy dose of pop rock into the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival with a wrap-up act on 28 February. The band debuted with chart-topping single ‘Apologize’ in 2006 and has kept the streak going with equally successful songs like ‘All The Right Moves’ and ‘Good Life’. The band has won several awards and landed many more nominations, so fans are likely to hear a wide selection of their favourites at this live open-air concert.

After a successful show in 2019, the Gipsy Kings return to Dubai Opera with their blend of flamenco, salsa and pop melodies on 12 March. The sons of former Spanish gypsies hail from Arles and Montpellier in the south of France, collecting eclectic sounds to create dance-inducing melodies such as ‘Bamboléo’ and ‘Volare’. The Gypsy Kings truly embody the world music genre, infusing elements of Latin and Cuban styles, Arabic music, reggae and jazz in their songs.

One Direction fans, get your Louis Tomlinson playlist ready as the former band member makes his solo debut at the Coca-Cola Arena on 18 April. The British heartthrob launched his post-boy band career with the dance-pop single ‘Just Hold On’ in collaboration with Steve Aoki, and has since released more floor fillers including ‘Back To You’. No stranger to global fame, Tomlinson has sold out venues around the world, so it’s safe to assume he’ll bring his megawatt star power to the stage in Dubai.

Heavy metal legends Iron Maiden are performing their second concert in Dubai after their debut show in the city 11 years ago. The band arrives on 27 May with their critically-acclaimed Legacy Of The Beast Tour, which features extravagant production elements including a replica Spitfire plane from World War 2, jaw-dropping pyrotechnics, flame-throwers and more. Steve Harris and the band are all set to perform audience favourites such as ‘The Trooper’ while bringing back old hits including ‘Flight Of Icarus’ and ‘The Clansman’.
