Dubai is set to get your motor running
Dubai has gained a reputation as a world leader in all things motoring. From its brand new Lamborghini showroom and pristine Bentley suite to the many incredible stunts that take place in the emirate, Dubai has plenty to talk about when it comes to cars.
Motoring is in the blood of most Dubai residents. One only needs to look at the parade of exotic supercars and all-conquering SUVs that carry the population up and down Sheikh Zayed Road to get an idea of just how innate the car scene has become.
Our engine obsession means that Dubai is very much the place to be when it comes to new and exciting developments in the motoring world, with the world’s biggest brands vying to take advantage of the city’s love for cars.
The world’s largest Lamborghini showroom
The opening of Dubai’s Lamborghini Showroom – a shining monument to one of the region’s favourite supercars – was a blockbuster event for luxury car fans in 2016.
Boasting a prime location on Sheikh Zayed Road, the showroom spans an expansive 30,000sq ft across three levels, including two private display areas for VIP guests. According to Badr Al Jaziri – General Manager of Al Jaziri Motors, which operates the showroom – the development reflects the “growing demand for both Lamborghini V10 and V12 super sports cars and, of course, the expected arrival of the Lamborghini Urus SUV in 2018.” Exciting times indeed for Dubai Lamborghini fans.

Speaking of excitement, Dubai never disappoints in the arena of thrilling motor-based stunts. Perhaps chief among its achievements came in January 2013, when Aston Martin celebrated its centenary by landing a Vanquish on the helipad of the Burj Al Arab.
And that’s not the only time the helipad of the iconic hotel has played host to a thrilling motoring stunt – later that year, in October 2013, Formula One driver David Coulthard performed donuts on the hotel’s helipad. The driver took to the 24m-wide helipad in Inifiniti Red Bull Racing’s 750bhp Formula One car, executing what proved to be one of the most daring stunts ever performed in the region.
Get involved: where to find luxury cars in Dubai
While the world of supercars may seem like a reserve of the super-rich, in motoring-mad Dubai, there are plenty of ways for visitors to experience the scene.
One of the most accessible – and thrilling – ways to get behind the wheel is with a Dubai Autodrome Driving Experience. From basic driving classes tailored for first-time drivers, to hot laps in a 625bhp McLaren Sprint, the Autodrome offers a driving experience for every skill level.
If you’d prefer to take to the open roads, Dubai has plenty of options when it comes to supercar hire companies, with the likes of VIP-Luxury.com, JamalPrestige.com and RentCarDubai.com all boasting extensive fleets at reasonable daily rates.
For those who love cars but would prefer to watch from a distance, the Dubai Police has a fleet of supercars that can regularly be seen patrolling some of the city’s most popular heritage sites. Constantly being updated, the most recent addition to the roster includes a McLaren MP4-12C, a Bugatti Veyron and an Aston Martin One-77. Dubai’s friendly law enforcement officers are usually happy to let people pose for pictures in front of their cars – just ask!

Living a love for racing
It’s not just car showrooms and high-octane stunts that reflect the emirate’s thirst for motoring. Nowadays there are even hotel rooms dedicated to cars. Without doubt, the most impressive in the city is St Regis Dubai’s Bentley Suite. Located on the fourth floor of the hotel, the suite features a master bedroom, living room with dining area, study, entry foyer and bathroom – all lavishly appointed with the little touches of class you expect from the famous Crewe-based marque.
Rich wood finishes, marble floors and leather accents on handcrafted wood furnishings are all par for the course in the Bentley Suite, which boasts floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the hotel’s expertly manicured gardens. You’ll enjoy a full butler service and the use of a Bentley Mulsanne for the duration of your stay.
