Dubai’s favourite pampering spots
From warm marble beds to paprika facials, hot stone massages to impeccable French haircuts – with so many extravagant-sounding options to choose from, it’s hard to know where to start with a grooming regime in Dubai. We asked local experts to weigh in and help narrow down a long list of beauty spots.

Dubai is a beauty lover’s paradise! It’s home to some of the best spas and beauty havens in the world, which makes it difficult to choose favourites. But I find myself going back to the Talise Ottoman Spa to treat myself to the Royal Ottoman Turkish hammam. From lying on the warm marble, gazing at the enchanting colours of the ornate domed ceiling, to the rich, olive soap foam massages and soothing oil baths, everything about this spa treatment exudes opulent relaxation.

Thirty minutes out of Dubai's skyscrapers and surrounded by Desert Palm's lush polo fields, Samana is the kind of oasis you could happily spend all day in – floating from treatment room to treatment room, entombed in a mud wrap or floating in a rose petal and milk bath overlooking the hotel's picturesque grounds. I always book in for a skin-brightening paprika facial to finish off my stay. It uses all-natural products by Éminence, and includes a chilled stone masque and facial massage.

There’s so many choices for men in this city, but my favourite men’s salon in Dubai has to be La Loge Jose Eber at the Montgomerie Club. Not only do they treat customers like kings, but you get the best haircut in town. The very talented barber, Louay, is meticulous, and I always leave feeling great, with a sharp new cut. The whole experience is luxurious and calming, which is just what I’m looking for when I take some weekly personal time for my grooming needs.

Every week without fail I go to The Cure Beauty Spa. It’s a little salon that has been open for 14 years, but it’s a hidden gem that I keep going back to, despite how many intriguing new salons have launched since then. They always remember your name and what you like to drink, and the staff have perfected the chip-proof manicure. I swear by their micro-needling facial for anti-ageing and their hot stone massage is fabulous too.

Like most Dubai women, keeping my hair healthy and groomed is an important part of maintaining my appearance. For my hair, I only trust Catherine Hawkes from Marquee Hair Salon. She has a no damage policy so she will never do anything that will result in burnt hair, no matter how much heat styling your hair may need, and will always be honest about what styles look best on you. Bonus: their chairs recline and become flat so you avoid any neck pain during a hair wash – so relaxing, you might even fall asleep...

Hidden away in a corner of the Dubai Marina, in the Marriott Hotel, Version-Francaise isn’t the most likely of places you would expect to find such talented hair stylists, but as they say, don’t judge a book by its cover. While the salon has adopted a no-frills exterior, the hair stylists do an excellent job. Your hair is in very safe hands. I recommend booking an appointment in advance rather than popping in as this place is extremely popular with the chic French expat community.
