From sky-high settings to beachside eateries; Latin American flavours to the best of British, Dubai is experiencing a steakhouse boom, with plenty of offerings to satiate even the most hard-core meat-eaters. Here are six of the best spots in Dubai to celebrate steak:
Gaucho | Argentinean extravagance
Located in the heart of Dubai's International Financial Centre (DIFC), upmarket Argentinian steakhouse Gaucho is very much a destination for the movers and shakers of the city. With its distinctive cowhide, black marble and glass interiors, the venue is a million miles away from what one would expect from a classic Argentinian steakhouse. That said, the food is a different story, with authentic flavours of South America really making themselves known in dishes such as pan-fried lamb rump and the lomo a la Milanesa – fillet steak rubbed in chili and parsley and then coated in breadcrumbs.

Prime68 | Steak with a view
The tallest hotel in the world – the JW Marriott Marquis – is the rather impressive location for sky-high steakhouse, Prime 68. The view out over Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai from the restaurant's 68th-floor vantage point is impressive, but the star of the show is undoubtedly the food, with steakhouse classics given a modern twist to match the contemporary setting, and an in-house charcoal grill on hand to ensure each steak is cooked to perfection.

Ruth's Chris Steak House | All-American barbecue
Bringing a little slice of America to Dubai Marina, Ruth's Chris eschews the bold, brash – and often cheesy – decor usually embraced by American steakhouses in favour of a stylish, sedate and altogether sophisticated ambiance. But, while the interiors exude understated charm, there's nothing understated about the food, which delivers bold flavours to rival anything the US has to offer.

MJ's Steakhouse | New York on the beach
Set in the sprawling surroundings of the beautiful beachside Al Qasr hotel, MJ's Steakhouse makes the most of its unique location, positioned, as it is, alongside the resort's serene waterways, with the only disruptions being the odd giant turtle paddling past every now and again. In terms of food, the New York-themed restaurant brings an element of luxury to its meat, with the likes of fois gras and truffles also featuring on the lavish menu.

La Parrilla | South American grill
Stunning views across the Arabian Gulf and of the next-door Burj Al Arab make Latin American steakhouse La Parrilla, located on the 25th floor of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, a truly unique venue in which to enjoy a sizzling steak. Unsurprisingly, with views and food as good as this, the restaurant gets booked up quickly, so advance reservations are a necessity.

The Rib Room | Reliable, consistent classics
This award-winning steakhouse has an outpost in Emirates Towers, but the buzz is about the branch that recently opened at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray. This opulent resort on Palm Jumeirah is the perfect setting for the seriously luxurious steakhouse. Focusing on British classics done right, in a refreshing change from the Dubai norm, The Rib Room's steaks all come with one starch, two vegetables and a sauce – so those pesky side orders never provide a nasty surprise in the form of an unexpectedly inflated bill. And, of course, the food is just as delicious as it is reasonably priced. The Rib Room
