Star Wars In Dubai
From the space-age glass and steel skyline to the vast deserts and the frozen slopes; Dubai is the closest you will get to a galaxy far, far, away…
Marvel at the towers of Coruscant
Head to the top of the world with At the Top. The observation deck at the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, offers breath-taking views of Dubai’s ultra-modern architecture from 450 metres high.
See the wildlife at Dagobah
For avid wildlife photographers; dust off your telephoto lens and head to the end of Dubai Creek. The Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary is a wetland reserve renowned for attracting migratory birds in large numbers. The wetlands have large numbers of birds including more than 500 flamingoes, crustaceans, small mammals and fish. Sorry, no little green Jedi master.
Three birding hides are located on the perimeter of the sanctuary open to the public. Entrance is free and operate from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday to Thursday.
Experience the sands of Tatooine
Replace your Landspeeder with a Land Cruiser and his the sands for an adrenaline packed ride across Dubai’s dunes with a desert safari. End the day deep into the heart of the desert as you feast under the stars on Middle Eastern delicacies in a traditional Bedouin-style camp.
Snowball fight in Hoth
From Tatooine to Hoth; get out of the heat and on to the freezing slopes of Ski Dubai. Sorry you can’t bring your Tauntaun in here. You can, however, have a close encounter with penguins. Ski Dubai is home to a colony of both king and gentoo penguins. It’s free to watch the penguins waltz around the snowy slope, but those wanting a closer encounter can book one of three different “peng-friend” encounters, which include a personal penguin meet-up, or upgrade to the exclusive, once-a-week penguin swim session.
Laser shootout and pod racing
Head to Dubai Autodrome and test your skill as a racer at their 1.2 kilometre circuit. Then get your blaster ready and take up the banner of the rebellion at the Laserdrome, as you shoot your way around a medieval dungeon. Fear not, there are no Rancors roaming this dungeon… that we know of.
Build your own droid
Let your kids channel their inner Anakin Skywalker and try to build their own droids at Fun Robotics. Located in Safestway on Sheikh Zayed Road, Fun Robotics is a specialized robotics which aims at providing children and youngsters with the right skills to expedite their learning, especially in STEM-related fields, and to express their creativity. Fun robotics is about helping children exploring their potentials and developing their life skills. Get started on your own C3PO, R2D2 and BB8.
Have an out of this world dinner
Try the plethora of colourful mouth-watering dishes inspired by the Chinese Han Solo. At Zheng He’s you'll discover a menu that merges eastern and western traditions, from the ingredients to the cooking style. Sit inside for an ancient Chinese era ambience, while outdoor seating gives you a view of the Burj Al Arab and canals.
Awaken the force within you
Wrap it all up with an IMAX experience of Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens. Dubai has three IMAX screens; VOX at Mall of the Emirates, Novo at Ibn Battuta Mall, and Meydan IMAX Theatre. Then head over to Comicave at Dubai Outlet Mall for some cool geeky collectables.
May the force be with you.
