The Ownership Rules

Foreign investors wishing to retain 100 per cent company ownership need to opt for a free zone licence. Dubai excels in free zones – it was the first business destination to pioneer the concept. It now has a range of free zones serving specific needs – aviation, automotive, academia, design, healthcare, IT, finance, training, media, gold and gem trading, commodities trading, start-ups, printing and production, manufacturing and distribution.

All of the zones offer 100 per cent company tax exemption and free and full repatriation of profits. In some zones, property ownership is allowed and there are no restrictions on the number of activities. However, each zone also has its own specific requirements and offerings, with details available from Dubai FDI.
