Looking to the future, the UAE National Innovation Strategy is a primary tool to achieve the UAE Vision 2021 and an engine for the growth of distinctive skills and capabilities across the nation, focussing on fostering innovation in seven main sectors: Renewable energy, Transport, Education, Health, Technology, Water and Space.
Launched on October 19, 2014, the strategy spans 30 governmental initiatives to be implemented over a three-year period to foster innovation in these sectors. This includes new legislation, innovation incubators, investment in specialised skills, private-sector incentives, international research partnerships and an innovation drive within government.

- The Creative Community Law in the Emirate of Dubai, issued in 2014 is one example of new legislation, paving the way for Dubai Creative Clusters Authority (DCCA) to spur creative industries in Dubai and attract innovation-based companies to set up and settle in the emirate.
- Located in Dubai Internet City, The Innovation Hub aims to establish around 1.6 million square feet of workspace, catering to start-ups, SMEs and multinationals. When complete in 2019, it is expected to house a workforce of around 15,000 companies of all sizes.
- The Creative Community housed in Dubai Design District will establish around 1 million square feet of workspace, encouraging creativity and innovation and serving as an incubator in the art and design sector.
- An integrated innovation platform called in5 was launched by TECOM Group to support start-ups and entrepreneurs in the media, technology and design sector.
