Karim Haidar is the embodiment of culinary passion transformed. He has gone from law professor at Sorbonne University in Paris to chef. In the last 15 years, Karim Haidar has been able to create a unique signature and forged a path to a new Lebanese cuisine. He revolutionised many Lebanese restaurants from the bistro style (AU 29 and Liza), to the high-end fine dining (Fakhreldine, La Branche d’Olivier or Zabad) and the fast casual (Comptoir Libanais).
His original outlook on Lebanese catering led him travel all around the world and attend many highly prestigious events. Today, Karim has a new challenge: to bring the wonders of the Arab cuisine to the world. To do so, he has developed menus inspired by every Arab country or region in his Paris based catering company.
Karim founded the Academy of Arab Cuisine (Académie de Cuisine du Monde Arabe) which was launched in October 2015 with some of the most influential people in the Arab world as well as Europe, under the patronage of the Institute of Arab world (l’IMA). The Academy serves to promote and protect Arab food culture and heritage. Karim is also the author of three cookbooks published in various languages and his TV shows are staples of culinary programming. His recently launched food truck concept called Kafta&Hommos focusses on healthy fast food.
