Dubai Business Events

Spring is here and so is our first newsletter of the year with plenty of city updates to share with you. The first quarter kept us both busy and excited – we’ve traveled the globe and attended nearly 30 events to strengthen ties with stakeholders and further develop and increase Dubai’s share of the international business events market. Similarly, we continue to encourage the global meetings industry to discover what makes Dubai one of the most dynamic destinations in the world, and have kick started our 2016 series of study missions, welcoming 85 hosted buyers and media representatives from Europe in February, and more than 20 international associations in partnership with the Associations Network more recently in mid-March. A sale mission to China and South Korea rounded off our first quarter activities and we are now in full swing preparing for IMEX in Frankfurt where we hope to see you.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently announced its largest government changes in history, positioning the city for future growth with a focus on youth development and happiness. For the first time in history, the UAE now has a Minister of State who is 22 years old, and also has a Minister of State for Tolerance and a Minister of State for Happiness. With about eight members in their 20s and early 30s, the Cabinet’s new generation of ministers is empowered to take the country to the next level, implementing the new thinking in government that is rooted in the firm believe that youth, happiness and knowledge development make up the tools for it. This strategic move resonated particularly well as Dubai played host to industry leading events including the World Government Summit and the Global Women’s Forum earlier in February this year.

Crowned as the most cosmopolitan city in early January, Dubai has also been named as the number one choice for corporate expansion on a global level, according to a new survey released by the Alliance Business Centres Network for the Middle East and North Africa. The report revealed that Dubai was the top choice, ahead of Singapore and Hong Kong respectively, winning 21 per cent of the votes given by 300 companies that participated from Asia, Europe and North America. Adding to the successful start of the year was the recently announced 2015 visitor’s numbers and we are pleased to say that the city saw 14.2 million overnight visitors which marks a 7.5% increase over 2014.

Warm wishes from Dubai,
