26 May, 2016
In line with Dubai’s growing medical industry that includes state-of-the-art technology and world class doctors, Dubai recently launched the world’s first medical tourism portal called Dubai Health Experience.
The portal aims to provide all health, travel and visa services electronically. The new program will allow medical tourists to log on and book procedures at the 26 private and public hospitals in Dubai. One of the key features will be the patient’s access to the Patient Bill of Rights and Patient Protection Plan.
Medical packages will include procedures such as wellness, cosmetic and dental services, ophthalmology, orthopaedics and physiotherapy and specialised medical tests. Additionally, the portal will include discounted airfare, visa assistance, and medical insurance options along with hotel and leisure activity suggestions.
The initiative has a target of over 500,000 international medical tourists by 2020 and the platform was inaugurated by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.
Humaid Al Qutami, chairman of DHA’s Board of Directors and its director-general, said: “Dubai is at the pinnacle of safety, security, creativity and innovation and has over 200 nationalities living here. It has been a pioneer and leader in global development and by choosing to be a global hub of medical tourism it will redefine development of this region.”
