  • 3 night stopover
Hi. I've been to Dubai previously but this first time to the Riviera Hotel. This is in the exact location I was looking for. The hotel itself is maybe looking a little weary. The room was spacious and clean but smelled a little musty, however this was easily overcome with an open door onto the balcony the aircon going and potpourri around the room. The staff are very friendly and obliging. The front restaurant is currently closed for rennos. The break lie was a treat. Excellent selection and well presented. The hotel gets top points for location and ambience. In a nutshell I always gauge a hotel by one simple question. Would I stay here again? Answer a definite yes. Close to water taxis to Bur Dubai, walking distance to Gold Souk and Baniyas Square metro. Easy cab ride to airport for our early morning flight. Thank Riviera, see you next time.

  • Good hotel in Deira
Nice big quiet room with balcony and great view of the creek. Big comfy bed with usual amenities and a minibar with no alcohol. Nice big bathroom but shower water pressure is not good and bath towels are very small ! Great buffet breakfast included with a good choice until 11am. Don't be late though, as food is cleared away promptly on the dot !!! :)) Overall good stay !

  • Great Value
Great Value, Will Return Stayed 5 nights in September. I chose it for the great rate I got, which included breakfast, and proximity to both the Metro (Union Station 500m) and the Abra and Gold Souk (500m), but particularly the great Trip Advisor reviews. Nazeer, the doorman, was my first welcome and he was the highlight of my interaction with staff. He quickly greeted my taxi and took my bags to my room and facilitated any needs I had for my five day stay. Check in was quick and hassle free. I requested a double room, but only twin was available as hotel was full, but knew my request was that only and could not be guaranteed. Reception offered to push the two twin beds together, which I have never had anyone offer to do in 20 years of travel. I declined, but great way to accommodate my request. Room was immaculate. As some mentioned, slightly dated, but not as much so as I expected. The bathroom was clearly recently renovated and was top notch and on par with a 4 star hotel, with a very large six foot counter area for all your amenities. Equipped with bath/shower, bidet as well as one of those ‘water roll’ toilet/bidets which was nice and unexpected for this class of hotel. It was 40C and above my entire stay in Dubai and the air conditioning kept the room temperature to exactly as one sets it, which is often not the case in many hotels. I chose the Souk View room as it was slightly less expensive than the River View, but if a view of the bustling river-side is your thing, then I’d recommend it. Room was VERY quiet. Well stocked mini bar with very reasonable prices. Slippers provided. Robe would have been nice, but not expected for what one is paying. In room safe was large enough for laptop and worked (had many hotels they don’t). Housekeeping was efficient and friendly. Wifi was included and VERY fast and you could easily stream video with no interruption. Breakfast was great with wide selection including an omelet station and long opening hours (6-11am). Breakfast staff were efficient and polite, but could be a little more friendly and outgoing and recognize returning guests with a smile. They were pretty understated. As some have mentioned there was a slight ‘musty or damp’ smell in the hallways at times. Overall a very well run hotel. I would return.
