Choose the ideal school for your child

Dubai is renowned for its high-quality schools; here is what you need to get your search started.

Dubai is renowned for its high-quality schools; here is what you need to get your search started.

5 steps to consider when choosing a school

Step 1

Research schools and create a shortlist of desired schools. The KHDA website is helpful for this.

Step 2

Approach the schools directly to arrange a school visit to see the facilities and meet the staff. Most schools offer virtual tours, so if not in the country, request a virtual tour instead.

Step 3

Once you have chosen a school, make sure you apply within the admission timeline for the academic year. Typically this should be done by December - January for the following September school start.

Step 4

Ensure you have the relevant documentation needed ready. This vary from each school, but here is a list of most commonly required documents:

  • Student Birth Certificate Copy
  • Student Passport Copy
  • Student Visa Copy
  • Student Emirates Card ID Copy (both sides)
  • Passport size photographs
  • Immunisation Certificate Copy
  • Most Recent School report/nursery (previous 2 years) copy
  • Medical Declaration and Mandatory Information Forms
  • Sponsor Passport Copy
  • Sponsor Visa Copy
  • Sponsor Emirates ID Copy

Step 5

School assessments for children enrolling for FS1 or FS2 are common and often take place at the school itself where children attend play-based activities with other children observed by the school’s primary team members. Following the assessment the child may be offered a place at the school.
