  • Good overview of Dubai
As with all Big Bus tours, the hop-on-hop-off in Dubai helps give a good overview of the city. Stops aren't well signed (I think because of restrictions) and it's a bit ”too many chiefs” at the beginning but once on the bus it's very good. There are three main routes: red (downtown and 'old' Dubai - 2.5hrs); green (beach - 1hr); blue (marina and Palm Island - 1.5hrs). If you have time, do them all and in the above order. The green rout is the least interesting but you need to take it to get out to the blue route. The red route has live commentary. We had a great guy (Kirby) who gave a very good overview of the city and sites as well a useful information for the tourist. Well done. And he had a good sense of humour. A couple of the highlights on this leg are the gold and spice souks, a chance to visit the museum (part of the ticket price) and a chance to have a short boat trip (again part of the ticket price). The green line takes you to the beach and crosses with the blue line at the Mall of the Emirates. Worthwhile popping in to and it houses Ski Dubai as well (artificial snowfield and slopes). The green leg takes you past the marina, all the skyscrapers and out onto the amazing engineering feat that is Palm Island. And to Atlantis on the edge of the Arabian Sea. The green and blue routes have pre-recorded commentary but it is still full of useful information. The buses vary but the ones we had all had a smallish air conditioned area up top plus a larger area under shade cloth and an area out in the sun. Included in the ticket price is a nighttime tour out to Atlantis that is meant to showcase Dubai's lights. It leaves at 7.45pm so a lot of the lights are car brake lights. That said, there are some nice lights to see with the best being just across from the bus stop - Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa. At just under two hours it's not a must do but does have some points of interest. Recommended.

  • Half hearted tour ruined by abnoxious upselling staff
The tour itself was a bit of a let down with live commentary provided by someone who clearly had done the tour a few too many times and had lost the will to live. What really spoiled the tour was the ridiculous upselling. Having done our research before we realised that the basic tour was all we wanted to do as we didn't want to do enough of the other activities to make the big ticket worthwhile. Unfortunately one of the sales team didn't want to hear this and insisted that we listen to their sales pitch which went on for 20 minutes or so. Having finally persuaded the salesman that we weren't interested we were then confronted by an incredibly abnoxious sales person who tried to stop us going on our bus as she wanted to tell us about exactly the same deal her colleague had just failed to sell us. Bearing in mind the last sales pitch meant we missed the bus we wanted this was really irritating and our two young kids were completely fed up. Avoid like the plague.

  • Good ride ...value for money
If you are not on a package tour, this is very good option and economic as well. If connects majority of visitable places and good option. You can see the rates online.
