  • Celebreties Fine Dining In Dubai
I researched a potential fine dining restaurant for my latest review and discovered that Chef Mauro had recently inspired a “two choice” 6 or 9 course taster menu at Celebrities Restaurant so, I checked it out. My first visit here but, opulence and elegance my first thought, great ingredients for a fine dining atmosphere and this was not disappointing. From the setting, the decor, the simple but elegant table setting and crock-ware first class. I chose the 9 courses and what an absolute treat and delight of flavours escaping from the beautifully presented plates to the palate. Every course was a surprise and delight wonderful food, wonderfully prepared and presented. The resident Chef was on hand which, I always like, not hiding in the kitchen and visiting the table in person. The service I would say was, on a par with any fine dining establishment but, not outstanding anticipation, my wine glass was empty with the passing of at least 3 waiters but, at this level, attention to detail must be scrutinised. On this note I have to say that, I was disappointed right at the end when the waiter produced an inflated bill of 30% which, shocked my wife. It was of course rectified and an apology made but, it should not have happened in a place like this and I left still with my first thoughts being the wonderful food but, at the back of my mind a failing in attentiveness to my bill and not double checking before presenting. Having mentioned this shortfall still absolute fine dining venue in Dubai. A full video log will be on my YouTube channel Ash Eat Dubai shortly. Ash Eat Dubai

  • Disaster ....... What A Shame
Why have The One And Only Royal Mirage changed the best Half Board dinner option in Dubai ( in my opinion ) at Celebrities at the Palace ? Why try to fix something that wasn't broken in the first place ? As a very frequent visitor to the One And Only ( 5 times this year already, and back next week ) I'm devastated with the new tasting menu only now available at Celebrities. Not only did I leave still feeling hungry after I'd eaten, but now you can only use your half Board Allowance ( 190Dhs ) to reduce the cost of your meal. Chef Mauro Colagreco who's expertise has been bought in has introduced his culinary experiences to create the following >> 7 Course tasting menu 450Dhs + Wine Flight option extra 325Dhs Total 775 DHS 9 Course tasting menu 625DHs + Wine Flight option extra 475Dhs. Total 1100 DHS You don't have to be too clever to work out that the previous 40 DHS supplement has gone up considerably and there's now no A La Cart Option available, so it's a take it or leave it situation. On the evening I visited I was spoken to by Jordi, the manager of the restaurant very very rudely when he didn't like what I was telling him. The restaurant are fully aware ( because I've been here lots of times ) that I have an allergy to seafood and fish, so why did they bring me a fish course as part of my tasting menu ! It could have killed me ! More worrying is The One And Only are also allowing Chef Colagreco to meddle with the menus at The Beach bar and Grill. The management need to be careful, there's an awful lot of choice of very prestigious hotels in Dubai, please don't alienate your regular repeat guests.

  • A Tale of Two Halves
It was always a delight to eat here as it was on our first visit on this latest trip. A super table d'hote menu and a varied a la carte. The food was great at all courses accompanied by a nice bottle of rose. Excellent service and a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Our second visit, on our last evening, was the first night of a new concept presenting a tasting menu that was served blind, with no indication of what was likely to arrive (apart from being asked if there was anything we didn't like). New cutlery and glassware were also present so no expense spared. The food was well cooked and beautifully presented but I'm afraid that both of us are no great fans of a tasting menu. I think that a lot of people will be surprised at the change and, as the returning rate of guests is very high, it will be interesting to see if this catches on. I believe that the option of an a la carte menu should be considered.
