Dhow Ka Aangan
Tasty Cuisine At Dhow Ka Aangan

Dhow Ka Aangan is a favourite in Dubai for its impeccably executed, modern north Indian fare. Located in the Grand Excelsior Hotel (formerly, the Dhow Palace Hotel), the restaurant's menu spans more than a dozen pages.

As a traditional Indian band plays for the enjoyment of dinner guests, you can choose from fragrant and tasty dishes such as lobster masala (fresh lobster, cooked with onions, tomatoes and a special spice blend) and meen moiley (a coconut milk fish stew with mustard seeds and curry leaves).

  • Superb Indian food
I dined at this restaurant many years ago and visited again on my own for an early dinner. The menu is very good and perfect for western tastes. I had a beautifully cooked mutton palak which is served with minced spinach, accompanied by a stuffed (with potato) kulcha naan. All of the other diners at the time were Indian which I always think is a good sign in terms of the food being served. The atmosphere was relaxed and I believe a band plays Indian music in the restaurant although one was not playing when I was there. It is also worth pointing out it was not expensive at all, certainly not by Dubai standards. Very pleasant.

  • Great food, really bad ambiance
We had visited this restaurant 2 years ago and is was delightful. Excellent food with traditional singers and dancers We returned last night and, while the food was ok, I felt like I was in brothel. The dancers on the stage looked as if they were selling themselves for sex! No traditional dancing, just barely dressed women, who could hardly dance at all! Men were surrounding the stage as if it was a lap dancing club We attended with friends, who had their 14 year old boy with them. Not a good experience Food is really expensive too, 1050aed for 5 Avoid it like the plague

  • Good Food, Average Service
The Food is good, The service is average if you visit them for lunch or dinner. Once it gets converted into a dance bar at night, the level of service will suddenly increase so will be the prices of food and drinks. We tried Chicken curry and seekh kebabs which were really good, so was the dal and paneer. The Food is a little expensive if you compare it with other Indian Restaurants close to the hotel.
