Cantonese Cuisine At Hakkasan

After successful debuts around the globe, Hakkasan, the Brit-bred, Chinois-chic chain of eateries brought its take on Cantonese cuisine to Dubai's Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel in 2011. The kitchen is overseen by acclaimed chef Andy Toh Chye Siong, and the design is a modern and glitzy take on Shanghai glam with an outdoor dining deck that showcases a lush wall of vegetation and oak latticework, and a lounge dressed in black and gold that comes courtesy of Parisian design firm Gilles & Boissier.

The menu features a number of Hakkasan's signature dishes, including the stir-fried black pepper rib eye and dim sum offerings. But Chef Andy has also developed a number of creations exclusive to the Dubai location.

Had the early bird menu so the bill wasn't too astronomical! Food was of a high quality and very well prepared. The decor and ambience are very conducive to a relaxing meal although the volume of the music was a bit loud. We found the staff to be friendly and efficient, and also very patient in dealing with an obnoxious diner nearby! Impressive cocktail menu. Will definitely be back when the weather's cooler as the outside dining area looks great.

We stayed at the Emirates Palace for one night and it gave us the chance to try out Hakkasan as well. We last went a year ago and this time was as good as last. After your eyes get accustomed to the dark surroundings you understand that you focus your attention on your party. Food choice was wide and flavours of everything we tried were great. Jasmine smoked ribs as the starter were so good we couldn't share, we had to get another serving. It is one of the top 10 restaurants in AD. It's expensive but still worth trying for a special evening.
