Sahn Eddar
Go Glam At Sahn Eddar
It may be an expensive cuppa, but this is the ultimate cafe experience, and it offers the perfect way to see inside the Burj Al Arab, which requires a reservation in one of the hotel's restaurants or rooms. With classical sounds, marble, mosaic and soft touch lighting, it's easy to feel like a VIP at Sahn Eddar. After tea, make your way up to the Skyview Bar to enjoy the stunning vistas.

  • It really is a good as all the reviews - do go!
Some practical advice - we booked direct for afternoon tea in the Sahn Eddar Restaurant in the foyer of the Berj al Arab. Without a current booking you will not get past security at the entrance. We arrived in awe of the building, the staff, the hassle and bustle of people coming and going and slowly found our space as we wondered where we were allowed to go and what to do. We arrived with 4 cases being enroute between hotels in Abu Dhabi and Dubai but no problem, they were whisked away for storage. We slowly found our way to the next floor via some shops and to a window seat where afternoon tea was being served. The staff were fantastic and without any rush, afternoon tea unfolded. Our view was inland, across the beaches to the other Jumeirah hotels and directly above the front door. There we watched as people arrived and departed and for any petrol-head it would have been an orgasmic experience, identifying the different makes and models of cars. If you were in the Sky View restaurant for afternoon tea you would have seen for miles around but here you watched the excited faces of arrivals, of those departing on tours, even a few who had hired a hotrod car for a special occasion but in general the fascinating sight of the world going by the front door of the Berj al Arab. Like others, we were at the Berj for afternoon tea as part of a birthday celebration and we were not alone. Whilst we were there the group of musicians who played quiet background music very well, struck up "Happy Birthday" accompanied by waiters and waitresses standing around your table. We had a similar experience and I was handed a magnificent red rose to give to my wife. Afternoon tea was fabulous. Others have written about it so I won't dwell on it suffice to say we had 4 pots of tea each and spent 2½ very happy hours being fed exquisite food - they have more of everything if you ask! When we arrived, we were sat at a window seat next to one of the work stations which wasn't so good and we asked if we could be moved. The staff at the Berj have the ability to make you feel that you are the most important guest in the hotel and moving us was not a problem. As a consequence, we fell into conversation with Gosia who was the Sahn Eddar Restaurant Manageress. She was delightful and her and her staff so attentive. We discussed the Sky View afternoon tea and before we knew it, she took us up to the top and gave us a tour after we had finished our tea. WOW!! Some view! We took lots of photo's and noted afterwards that in the Sky View there was some reflection off the glass which was a shame but not their fault. On balance, we preferred afternoon tea at a window seat in the Sahn Eddar Restaurant watching the front door but the view from the top would be equally as good in a different way. We then looked at the Sky View from outside, from the bottom up! It was all spectacular. Thank you so much Gosia, you are a great Ambassador for the Berj and largely helped make our experience as memorable as it was. It was all so much fun, we will be back, but next time we will stay there!

  • Perfect breakfast in an ideal location. Great service!
We enjoyed our breakfast at this lovely and spacious restaurant located in the atrium of Burj al Arab. We were given two main choices for breakfast: intercontinental and indian to choose from in the beginning. We selected the intercontinental option and were offered a great selection of bread and butter with jams and honey to start with. Then different cakes and canapés followed on a three storey plate accompanied by juice. My tea was served in a very nice pot enough to fill in 3 cups. The breakfast also included a selection of fruits and desert and of course the main dish was a choice of eggs cooked the way we wanted them. The service was very attentive and kind. We had a table right in the front overlooking the jumeirah beach. Because we were celebrating our tenth wedding anniversary we were offered a chocolate cake as well and a rose. Then the manager also offered us a tour around the hotel. Everything was great! It was expensive but it worth it!I do highly recommend it!
