The insider’s guide to under the radar fashion

Showcasing an array of quirky, up-and-coming brands, and contemporary lines, more and more independent boutiques are opening their doors in Dubai. Here are some to add to your wish list and online shopping carts.

Located in Dubai’s hip Boxpark, Urbanist is an uber-trendy store that holds a myriad of cool brands ranging from Comme des Garcons, Anya Hindmarch and Sophie Hulme to local designers. With a distinctly unique edit by its Syrian owner, this is a jewel in Boxpark’s crown.

Urbanist, Boxpark, Al Wasl Road (+971 4 348 8002)

Find expertly curated fashion from the likes of Giambattista Valli and Elie Saab, as well as chic sunglasses and luxe accessories at this super glamorous boutique. Browse their website for the latest collections and have them delivered to your doorstep wherever you are, thanks to worldwide shipping services.

Symphony, Financial Centre Road (+971 4 330 8050)

This Dubai-based multibrand boutique’s fame has spread all over the world thanks to the chutzpah of founder Zayan Ghandour, whose own fashion line Zayan the Label can be found in the store. The edit is quirky and often bright, with eclectic accessories and jewellery that sums up this city’s metropolitan style perfectly.

S*uce, Jumeirah Beach Road (+971 4 344 7270)

Achingly hip and in one of Dubai’s trendiest art areas, Dubai Design District, Cartel is a voluminous space full of contemporary design from as far afield as Croatia and Amsterdam, Denmark and Australia - all playing with shape, texture, colour and fabric. Dion Lee, MM6 Maison Margiela, Chalayan and Nicola Formichetti’s Nicopanda are among the cooler than cool brands on display in dedicated sections within this large space. Fans of Dover Street Market in London or 10 Corso in Milan will understand the attraction.

Building 9, Shop 105, Dubai Design District (+971 55 725 1189)

Boutique 1

It might seem a stretch to call Boutique 1 a “boutique” as its sprawling space spreads out over 2,000sqm, but it manages to pull it off thanks to its incredibly chic aesthetic and special edit of labels from contemporary to high glamour fit for the red carpet. Christopher Kane, Delpozo and Erdem, among other popular brands, are displayed on the sleek shop floor. It’s online boutique also offers same day delivery within the city.
