Dubai’s RTA to boost taxi fleet by 40% to 7,000 by 2021

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has revealed a new five-year plan that will see the emirate’s taxi fleet grow 40 per cent by 2021, it announced on 13 August. Under the plan, the fleet of the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) is set to increase from 5,000 in 2015 to 7,000 by 2021. The number of limousines is also slated to rise by 340 per cent from 113 vehicles in 2015 to 500 vehicles by 2021. The plan will also see 50 per cent of taxicabs converted into hybrid vehicles by 2021.
