This authentically Turkish haunt is a local favourite in Dubai when it comes to tasty Middle Eastern cuisine (with a touch of theatrics) and serves up a wide variety of mezze, kebabs, and tempting desserts. The fresh bread is pillowy and inviting – make sure you sample it.

For dinner and a show, go for the Kwag al Sultan, to which servers apply the final fiery touches tableside. It's worth the order just to light up your social media feed. After dinner, why not sample some strong Turkish coffee? The dark, sweet brew is served on beautiful copper trays with pots of Turkish delight.

Breakfast is another strong point at this Sheikh Zayed Road eatery, and it is worthwhile booking in advance for it as tables fill up fast. Treat yourself to one of their set menus, during which a plethora of small dishes are brought to the table in waves. From sweet chocolate spreads, honey and cream to savoury cheeses, spicy sausage and eggs, you will find yourself amazed by the selection. The traditional simit bread is a highlight. Wash it all down with limited glasses of strong black tea. The top-of-the-line Royal Breakfast is aptly named as it is the ultimate indulgence.

An abundance of fabric floral displays add to the Instagram-worthy interiors, with the pretty pastel decor adding to the charm.
