Dubai ruler reveals plan for Jumeirah Central mega project

Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Saturday announced the launch of Jumeirah Central, an urban mixed-use city district which will include three shopping malls. Sheikh Mohammed, also Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, revealed plans for the all-season city district which will comprise 9 million sq ft of retail space and 4.5 million sq ft of outdoor shopping space. A tourism destination, Jumeirah Central will also offer 7,200 hotel rooms, which will be the largest number of hotel rooms centered in one district. The district will comprise 47 million sq ft of gross floor area (GFA) along Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road and will introduce new international standards in city planning, WAM added. The district will also be home to 35,000 residents and will host 100,000 people annually. It will be connected by a comprehensive cycling network that spans over 33 parks and open spaces.
