Learn all about where Modesh is from
Modesh is known for taking friends on exciting journeys, but the area he loves most is Modesh Village in Ras Al Khor, as that’s where he is from!
It is here that you will find a very special sanctuary where a huge variety of birds seek shelter in the salt flats, intertidal mudflats, dense mangroves and lagoons. The Ras al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary – known as the Cape of the Creek – is where stunning animals build their nests and nurture their young.
You can see magnificent creatures like grey herons, great egrets, reef herons, cormorants, black-winged stilts, sandpipers, osprey and more in their natural surroundings by heading out to one of the three bird hides that are free for the public to access during the daytime. And if you are lucky enough to go in the winter, these wetlands have a very unique draw – hundreds of pink-plumed flamingos!
