Fine Italian cuisine is at the heart of Il Ristorante - Niko Romito – one of the proud two Michelin-star winners in Dubai. The restaurant, located at the Bulgari Hotel & Resorts, was conceptualised to showcase traditional culture through its cooking. From Parmigiano Reggiano soup to roasted langoustines salad and spaghetti with sea urchins, this eatery serves up favourites that will transport you to the scenic Italian countryside. Hosted in a luxury penthouse-inspired setting, the restaurant offers an intimate experience for just 22 guests. Row on 45 was awarded two Michelin stars within its first year of opening. The evening is segmented into three acts, beginning in the lounge for appetisers before moving into the main dining room, which is complemented by a state-of-the-art show kitchen. A 17-course haute cuisine menu reflects Atherton’s culinary journey and love for worldly ingredients, while each course comes with insights from the talented chefs.

One Michelin Star: Smoked Room

Hidden within chef Dani Garcia’s Leña in St. Regis Gardens, Palm Jumeirah, Smoked Room has seats for a maximum of 14 guests at a time. Sat in a semi-circle facing the flames of an open kitchen, diners are treated to a meal that’s as much about culinary discovery as it is about eating. Within its first six months of opening, Smoked Room Dubai received a Michelin star. There are two menu options available to guests, Kõsei no Hi, priced at AED600 per person or Matsuri which is AED950 per person. However the dishes are largely left up to the chef, as is typical for an omakase-style restaurant.

He's the celebrity chef known for modernising and elevating Portuguese cuisine which is why there is so much fanfare over Tasca, Jose Avillez's first restaurant outside his home country. The upmarket venue, perched on the sixth floor of the Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, offers stunning views alongside the star's signature dishes. Don't miss out on his trademark avocado tempura – a technique first taken by the Portuguese to Japan – and tuna tartare cones, to start. For mains there is everything from a traditional Piri Piri chicken and roasted cod to a Josper-roasted lamb shank. The star of the sweet selection is of course the custard tart, served alongside coffee ice-cream.

Boasting Mediterranean flavours and local ingredients, this Michelin-lauded cool European restaurant in bustling DIFC is known for plating super-creative dishes with a big emphasis on on sustainability. The knowledgeable staff can guide you through a selection of their tapas-style plates. Options start with signature iced citrus olives and move onto octopus carpaccio, rosemary Padron peppers, kombucha-glazed local beetroot and mini pizzas. Don't forget to order the paella, known to be among the best in the city — the black squid ink version is an umami-filled crowd pleaser.

Through its minimal wastage menu, the Michelin Green star winner has ever-evolving offerings. Highlights include local oysters on kefir buttermilk, camel ricotta 'caramelle' pasta, along with lamb paired with kimchi from the charred section, while the ‘Sour Mountain’ dessert stands out for its use of locally-foraged rosemary.
