The World of Banksy

Discover art by the mysterious Banksy, as an exhibition of his pieces is here in Dubai for the first time ever this summer. The creative mastermind behind some of the world's most renowned satirical graffiti artworks has kept his identity a secret for years, and art lovers can see more than 120 unique works of his on display at Mall of the Emirates. The exhibition has toured the world, stopping off in cities such as Paris, Barcelona, Brussels, and this is the first time it is in Dubai, with murals, paintings and street art.

Urban Decay

Foundry
The Foundry, a progressive arts space in the heart of Downtown Dubai, is showcasing a new body of work by the British artist Fink 22. The self-taught painter, muralist and photographer specialises in abstract and vibrantly colourful pieces. Having lived all over the world, in London, Melbourne, Berlin and Bali, he is drawn to urban landscapes, and this exhibition, Urban Decay, highlights the worn and lived-in surfaces of buildings all over the city.

Silent Day

Alserkal
Spanish artist Eduardo Perez-Cabrero has put on a new exhibition at Leila Heller Gallery, in Alserkal Avenue, this summer. His pieces are inspired by the Mediterranean Sea and its culture, with sculptures of rounded, organic shapes in vibrant colours, made of materials as diverse as aluminium, brass, resin and cement. This latest showcase, Silent Day, features eight works of art, and his biggest, titled I will take you up to the stars, is mounted on the venue's main wall, and constructed from more than 400 pieces of ceramic.

Lucky 13

Foundry
A new collection of pieces by Maxime Cramatte, the founder of Dubai-based art collective Satwa 3000, is on show at Downtown Dubai’s co-working space, Foundry this summer. Cramatte's work blends pop culture with the history and culture of one of Dubai's oldest and most vibrant neighbourhoods. The showcase, Lucky 13, will be displaying Cramatte's work in chronological order, and includes everything from paintings and photographs to music and video installations, all of which take inspiration from the city’s bustling streets.

Try to Catch the Moon

Check out some expressionist oil paintings and abstract sculptures, at this new solo exhibition by the Iranian artist Amir Khojasteh. The contemporary art gallery Carbon 12 Dubai is hosting this new showcase, Try To Catch The Moon, in which Khostajeh explores a story of hope and defeat, basing his pieces on two symbols - the moon and the horse. These expansive works, which tread the line between peace and chaos, are inspired by political happenings in the region seen through the lens of fantasy and humour.

The Arcane Series

Taiko Dubai
Head down to the Asian restaurant Taiko Dubai this summer to catch a one-of-a-kind exhibition, a collaboration between the eatery and Masterpiece Dubai, a fine art dealership. On display will be an exclusive collection of artworks by the legendary late musician, actor and artist David Bowie. The pieces are inspired by his interest in the esoteric, and represent themes such as death, stars and the moon. While you're there, snack on signature dishes devised by celebrity chef Schilo van Coevorden, and listen to some of Bowie's biggest tunes.

Library Circles

Jameel Arts
Take a step back in time at Jameel Arts Centre with their latest exhibition. The newest in the Library Circles series has been spearheaded by Maysoon Al Dwairi, who's taking a closer look at the founding of the UAE's education system. The curator has worked as a teacher and a headteacher in the past, and a central part of the collection is the extensive archive of her father, Dr. Hamad Al Dwairi. Visitors can check out photographs, readings, recollections of oral histories and learn more about a crucial part of the country's history.

Cemented Sky

Alserkal
The new art exhibition on show at Alserkal Avenue's Zawyeh Gallery, in the heart of Al Quoz, is by the young Palestinian artist Yazan Abu Salameh. Cemented Sky explores the urban environment that surrounds us, with creative pieces depicting distant horizons and dense structures. Abu Salameh's artworks are made out of materials like paper, cement, Lego blocks and cardboard, and draw on the contrast of colours and textures that these mediums create.

Desert is a Forest

One of the displays currently on show at the Dubai art institution Jameel Arts Centre is Desert is a Forest. The commissioned work has taken root in the venue's Artist's Garden, and aims to explore the UAE's biodiversity, particularly in regards to humans and goats. The piece, by Sunoj D and Namrata Neog features indigenous plants consumed by the two species, or used for medicinal purposes, to emphasise the politics of food, and the relationship between humans and animals. While you're there, check out the institution's seven additional gardens designed by Anouk Vogel.

Chemistry of Feeling

Don't miss out on this new community exhibition at Gulf Photo Plus, Dubai's premier photography centre. Chemistry of Feeling aims to celebrate analog photography, and is the largest event of its kind to be held at the venue. Following a global open call, nearly 800 works were submitted from 50 countries around the world, but only a select few have gone on show. Visitors will be able to see 100 film photographs on display, documenting the tumultuous year we've all lived through.

Infinity des Lumieres

You'll literally feel like you stepped into some of the most famous artworks of all time at Infinity des Lumieres, which has taken over a cavernous 2,700 sqm space in The Dubai Mall. The experience, which blends music, light and art in a multi-media presentation, showcases different artistic themes. From Van Gough's masterpieces to Japanese art movements, you'll be both enlightened and stimulated. Take a seat or wander through the installation - just make sure you take the steps up to the viewing deck from where you get a birds eye view of the whole area. There's an excellent boutique selling beautifully curated keepsakes and gifts at the end too.
