From indoor skiing to underwater adventures, these are some best ways to cool off with the kids in Dubai.

Groove and glide at Dubai Ice Rink

It snows in the summer (and all year-round) at the Olympic-sized ice-skating rink in The Dubai Mall. The venue's Dubai Snowfall experience creates a magical white winter wonderland vibe that is ideal for families. Imagine snowflakes falling from above as you glide across the ice. Get your groove on by joining the regular ice disco sessions, complete with a colourful light show and DJs spinning the latest pop tunes.

Indoor thrills at IMG Worlds of Adventure

Looking for a few dips and drops on a daring rollercoaster? You're in luck, Dubai's largest indoor theme park is only a short drive away from the city centre. With an area of nearly 140,000sqm (equivalent to 28 football fields), IMG Worlds of Adventure comprises four adventure zones complete with exhilarating rides, roaming entertainment by beloved mascots, and plenty of retail and eating choices.

Make a splash at Laguna Waterpark

La Mer, Dubai’s popular waterfront development, is home to the aquatic adventureland, Laguna Waterpark. Packed with rides, play areas and plenty of places to soak up the sun, Laguna is definitely a fun day out for everyone. Spend an afternoon with the family whizzing down one of the park’s unique waterslides, relax under a cabana, or try your hand at the WaveOz 180, the park’s star surfing attraction. Afterwards, check out the many restaurants that line La Mer's boardwalk.

Hit the snowy slopes of Ski Dubai

Offering more than just indoor skiing, Dubai's 3,000sqm snow park offers frosty pursuits of all kinds. There’s everything from penguin meet-and-greets to snowboarding lessons. Covering an area that's equivalent to three football fields, Ski Dubai features not one but five ski runs, toboggan tubes and scenic chairlift rides for little ones. Keep cool in -2°C temperatures, play in the interactive snow cavern, or book an up-close and personal VIP experience with the resident gentoo and king penguins.

Dive into the deep blue at Dubai Aquarium

Dive into the deep

It may not be as icy as some of Dubai's other beat-the-heat spots, but the experiences on offer at this giant aquarium are just as cool. Plunge into the deep blue and glide alongside sharks and tropical fish with the Shark Scooter experience at Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo. Similar to a personal submarine, riders slowly propel themselves through the world's largest suspended aquarium on an electric, underwater vehicle while guided by a diving instructor.

Sub-zero fun awaits at Chillout

Chilling out takes on a whole new meaning at this ice lounge in Dubai's Times Square Centre. Swap your gelato for hot chocolate and shorts for thermals at Chillout Ice Lounge, a frozen wonderland like no other with colourful ice sculptures, speciality frozen furniture and a striking decor. Temperatures here drop to a frigid -6°C, but you will acclimatise soon enough, with a delicious spread of hot meals, including freshly-prepared soup and cheesy lasagna.
