The best spots to catch Dubai’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks
The best spots to catch Dubai’s New Year’s Eve Celebrations
Dubai’s legendary NYE celebrations are the highlight of the year. If you are staying during NYE, here’s our guide to the best places to catch the spectacular show.
BURJ KHALIFA LIGHT UP 2018 | DOWNTOWN DUBAI
A never-before-seen spectacle is set to be unveiled this New Year's Eve in Downtown Dubai. Visitors are sure to be enthralled by Light Up 2018 , a stunning laser and light show in the heart of the city.
Burj Khalifa/The Dubai Fountain
There’s no better spot to watch the biggest New Year’s Eve celebration in Dubai than from the footsteps of the Burj Khalifa, itself. Thousands gather along the waterfront of the Dubai Fountain to catch the spectacular light and water show at midnight so make sure to head down there if you are staying in Downtown Dubai. If you are coming from other parts of the city, arrive as early as 6pm to grab a top spot, or make a booking at one of the many restaurants. Plan ahead as roads and access to the Downtown area are restricted on the night for crowd control.
Souk Al Bahar
Just across the bridge from The Dubai Mall is Souk Al Bahar, a dining and lifestyle destination with many restaurants offering clear views of the Burj Khalifa show. Again, book ahead.
Free access; advanced booking required at restaurants
Slightly further down is the open-air space Burj Plaza, which offers an alternative view of the Burj Khalifa. This is a popular spot for families to gather.
BURJ AL ARAB FIREWORKS | JUMEIRAH
Kite Beach/Jumeirah Beach
With the Burj Al Arab as its neighbour, Dubai’s beach stretch is unsurprisingly packed with NYE revellers. Of course, it’s best to get there early - pack a picnic basket and blanket and perhaps get there in time to catch the unmissable sunset before settling in for the night. Kite Beach has a variety of cafe-style eateries, including the ever-popular Salt for scrumptious sliders.
Black Palace Beach
The untouched stretch of sand behind Knowledge Village offers unsurpassed views of the Burj Al Arab (and the fireworks). You’ll also be able to see the Atlantis fireworks from here.
Dubai’s modern take on a traditional souk is located right next to the Burj Al Arab, with restaurants, lounges and plenty of open spaces from where you can take in the show. The sought-after spot offers panoramic views of the fireworks from the beach (Shimmers, Mina A’Salaam, +971 4 432 3232), the water (Pierchic, Al Qasr, +971 4 366 6705) and above (Ambar, Jumeirah Al Naseem, +971 4 366 8888) among others.
Free access to Souk Madinat Jumeirah; advanced booking required at restaurants
ATLANTIS FIREWORKS | THE PALM JUMEIRAH
Atlantis, The Palm
Is there a better way to view the fireworks than the source itself? Book yourself into the Atlantis resort or nab a table at the New Year’s Eve Royal Gala and you will have front-row access to the mesmerising fireworks.
Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk
The just-launched 11km boardwalk along the crescent of the manmade Palm Jumeirah will be the place to be on the Palm this NYE. Stretching all the way from the One&Only, The Palm to the other end, the walkway has numerous spots for visitors to watch the fireworks at Atlantis, as well as the Burj Al Arab and Burj Khalifa from the Rixos-end of the crescent. Bear in mind that access to the Palm is typically restricted to control traffic on NYE.
Palm Jumeirah hotels
Several of the hotels on the Palm, including Anantara, Kempinski, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Rixos and Waldorf Astoria all have prime viewing spots of the fireworks and will host their own NYE soirees.
