Discover the city’s best celebratory spots
Dubai’s legendary New Year’s Eve celebrations are the highlight of the year. If you’re in town for the festivities, here’s our guide to the best places to catch the spectacular fireworks shows seen and heard around the world.
BURJ KHALIFA FIREWORKS
In Dubai, New Year’s Eve and fireworks are pretty much synonymous. The city is known for hosting a magnificent display of lights every year that attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators around the world. This year won’t be any different, with an extravagant pyrotechnic show at Burj Khalifa and water-music dance at the Dubai Fountain.
Burj Khalifa & The Dubai Fountain
You can’t imagine a better view of Dubai’s most awe-inspiring New Year’s Eve celebration than from the very footsteps of Burj Khalifa. Thousands gather along the waterfront of the Dubai Fountain to catch the spectacular light and water show at midnight, so make sure to get a headstart. Arrive as early as 6pm to avoid traffic and grab a top spot. Or, book a table at one of the famous restaurants lining the waterfront by The Dubai Mall to guarantee yourself a good seat. Plan ahead as roads and access to the Downtown area will be restricted on the night for crowd control.
Souk Al Bahar
Just across the bridge from The Dubai Mall is Souk Al Bahar, an upscale dining and lifestyle destination. Many restaurants here, such as Karma Kafé and Serafina, boast clear views of the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain. Again, book ahead so you don’t have to rush to find a seat with the whole family.
Free access; advanced booking required at restaurants
In the shadow of the Burj Khalifa is Burj Plaza, an open-air promenade. Along with a range of dining destinations where you can book a table, this is the best place to be for an alternative and uninterrupted view of the Downtown fireworks.
PALM JUMEIRAH FIREWORKS
Atlantis, The Palm
Is there a better way to view the fireworks than the source itself? Book yourself into the Atlantis resort or nab a table at the hotel’s grand New Year’s Eve Royal Gala for front-row access.
Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk
The 11km boardwalk along the crescent of the Palm Jumeirah is the place to be on the Palm this NYE. Stretching all the way from the One&Only, The Palm to the other end, the walkway offers numerous spots for visitors to watch the fireworks display at Atlantis. If you head to the Rixos-end of the crescent, you’ll be able to spy the Burj Khalifa celebrations too. Bear in mind that access to the Palm is typically restricted to control traffic on NYE, so plan and arrive accordingly.
Palm Jumeirah hotels
Several of the hotels on the prestigious Palm, including Anantara, Kempinski, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Rixos and Waldorf Astoria have prime viewing spots of the fireworks displays and will host their own NYE soirees. Find out what’s on and book tickets to the city’s celebrations by visiting Dubai Calendar.

The popular beachside destination Barasti will offer fantastic views of the fireworks show on the Palm. The venue is hosting a star-studded extravaganza to ring in the New Year, so get your tickets in advance and confirm a front-row view of dazzling pyrotechnics.
