From dazzling fireworks to picnicking on the beach, wherever you go in Dubai, you're in for a fabulous welcome to 2021.

From dazzling fireworks to picnicking on the beach, wherever you go in Dubai, you're in for a fabulous welcome to 2021.

1

Watch the fireworks

Dubai is always host to a brilliant display of fireworks on New Year’s Eve. Lining the coast, buzzing venues such as Al Seef, La Mer and The Beach are sure to be the spotlight of a dynamic pyrotechnic show for the whole world to enjoy, as will a lights, laser and fireworks spectacular by Burj Khalifa. Meanwhile, IMAGINE over at Dubai Festival City will host an equally captivating production, choreographing fire and water in a record-breaking display over Dubai Creek. All the venues offer incredible vantage points from waterfront restaurants, so call in advance to guarantee yourself front-row seats.

2

Picnic by the beach

Dubai’s beaches are an excellent spot to ring in the New Year. Free to access, head to Kite Beach for a fun-filled picnic with views of the Burj Al Arab. Reach early to catch the sunset before settling in for the night. If you prefer a little entertainment leading up to the countdown, make your way to The Beach opposite Jumeirah Beach Residences (JBR). The hip urban beach precinct features an array of restaurants with sea views, ideal for a sparkling New Year's night.

3

Travel the world

Count down to midnight at Global Village, Dubai’s seasonal entertainment and shopping amusement park. Enjoy music and cultural dance performances at the outdoor arena all night and, in between breaks, explore thrilling rides and carnival-themed attractions. The Global Village is a great place to shop one-of-a-kind buys and souvenirs from around the world with grand pavilions representing more than 75 countries.
4

Experience Emirati hospitality

If you're looking for a touch of local tradition, look no further than Karak House. It boasts an extraordinary setting, thanks to its enviable location on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard. The restaurant is popular among gourmands for its contemporary twist on Emirati cuisine – think avocado and pomegranate salad, spiced lamb cutlets and creamy rose milk cake. Book a table at the terrace to dine under the stars with prime views of the Burj Khalifa at midnight. Alternatively, try Al Fanar restaurant at Dubai Festival City Mall or Logma in The Dubai Mall – both offer contemporary takes on Emirati classics.

Stay, play and dine at Dubai's best

Hotels across Dubai are all hosting elaborate extravaganzas, and there's something for all ages to enjoy. For example, Atlantis, The Palm's celebrations are a key fixture on Dubai's New Year's Eve calendar, dazzling with delicious feasts and live entertainment. Nearby, BLVD on One at FIVE Palm Jumeirah presents a family-style buffet experience, complete with 15 international food stations, a magician and caricaturist to delight little ones, and views of Dubai Marina's fireworks in the distance. Over at Port Rashid, the historic QE2 floating hotel is also set to impress with themed parties and food and activities for the family.
