There’s fun galore in store at Legoland Water park at Dubai Parks and Resorts. Most of the rides and slides allow little ones to race each other or ride together in groups. The Duplo Splash Safari caters to toddlers while a few single slides provide thrills for the braver big kids. Children can also exercise their brains with ‘Build-A-Boat’, where they can construct any kind of boat imaginable and test it against the current to see how well it fares. Those looking to float down the lazy river can customise their rafts with big, soft Legos at the Build-A-Raft-River before sailing off. Legoland Water park is ideal for families with children aged 2 to 12 and provides fun, interactive experiences.
Set in the sprawling Atlantis The Palm resort, Aquaventure is the biggest waterpark in Dubai and can boast some of the most adrenaline-pumping rides of any waterpark anywhere in the world. The park itself comprises two main towers (Poseidon and Neptune), which are connected by a giant lazy river that transports riders between slides.
For those who thrive on adrenaline, the park has a number of options; however, the most hardcore have to be Poseidon’s Revenge and the Leap of Faith. The former closes riders into a see-through vertical tube, before a trap door opens, leaving them to plummet towards the ground, whereas the latter is simply a wide-open, near-vertical drop that only those with particularly strong stomachs dare undertake.
Dubai’s original waterpark, Wild Wadi Waterpark has been thrilling Dubai tourists and residents young and old since 1999. It is hard to believe that the park has stood for more than 15 years, though, as the rides are continually updated and the park always looks flawless.
The jewel in the crown of Wild Wadi has long since been the Jumeirah Sceirah – a 120m slide that sees riders hit speeds of 80km/h after being dropped through a trap door. There are also a number of raft-based slides at the park, with the heart-thumping Tantrum Alley, which sees rafts with as many as four people at a time hurtle down steep waterslides, appearing to come perilously close to the open edges, before cascading into the water pool below.
This family friendly entertainment hub on the Dubai Marina end of town is home to The Beach Waterpark, an inflatable obstacle course floating on the water comprising slides, climbing walls and trampolines. If you’re holidaying with little ones in tow, take them to the Splash Pad, with fountains, a tipper bucket and climbing frames to keep them happy.
Afterwards, there’s plenty of entertainment around to keep you busy well into the evening. Dry off and head to one of the many restaurants along the promenade, browse the beachside shops and even watch a movie.
Make the most of the sunshine and paddle out to AquaFun, the region’s biggest inflatable waterpark, located just off the coast of The Beach at JBR. Covering an area of 2,700sqm, there are 74 games to try along its fun obstacle course that floats at sea.
A popular attraction for visitors to Dubai, one of the most distinctive features of the floating park is that it spells out ‘Dubai’ in pink and blue when viewed from above. Open all year round, AquaFun also boasts some of the world’s longest and highest water slides, alongside plenty of ramps, steps and jumps – just watch out for those challenging monkey bars.
With its seafresh theme, exceptional attractions and beachside charm, La Mer is on every visitor’s itinerary. There’s so much to explore, but the brand new waterpark should be at the top of your list.
Billed as ‘Dubai’s coolest beachfront destination’, the Laguna Waterpark houses a grand water slide complex with iconic rides to thrill. Fun-seekers of all ages will find something new to love here, from the daredevil rides and dedicated children’s zone to the infinity pool and lazy river.
