Al Qudra Cycling Track

Bike Through the Desert in Al Qudra
Al Qudra cycling path is a popular destination among Dubai’s adventure seekers. The track is 86 kilometres, consisting primarily of a 50 kilometre loop followed by a section commonly known as “The Stick” which runs approximately 15-20 kilometres straight along Al Qudra Road. Boasting of amazing views of Dubai’s desert dunes, riders may also catch a glimpse of some local wildlife like the oryx or horse riders along the path.

The track is popular among both professional and novice riders alike and is frequented by both solo riders as well as groups. Depending on riding speed, the mostly flat track typically takes between 1.5 and 3 hours to complete. It is utilised by weekly cycling clubs, world-class athletes, and leisure riders visiting Dubai. Some say that the best time to ride is at sunrise, the views and feeling of the morning breeze are unparalleled. Sunset is also said to be a beautiful time of day on the path.

If you did not pack a bike, Trek UAE bike shop— located at Seih Al Salam at the end of Al Qudra Road — is a great place to rent your ride. Each bike rental also includes a helmet and lights, as parts of Al Qudra Cycling Track are not well lit after dark. To ride on the path itself is free of charge.

Part of the track has access to the road on which cars can drive; however, portions of it are just for the cyclists. Additionally, the path is equipped with resting stations along the way that offer benches and shade as well as a restroom located where Bab Al Shams Road meets Al Qudra. Facilities like a café and the shop are located at the far end of the track, so ensure enough water and snacks are packed for the long haul. Visitors should also note that there are few taxis driving around this area, so if you need a lift back to Dubai, make sure to plan ahead.

If you’re seeking an uncommon desert training course for an upcoming athletic challenge or simply want to have an adventurous escape, take a ride on Al Qudra’s path.
