In the shadow of the famous Burj Al Arab is the souk Jumeirah located. I much prefer the souks over the gigantic malls spread out all over Dubai since here you can at least notice how the weather is like. There is also a Belgian Beer café, something that makes me proud as a Belgian (although prices obviously are much more expensive then in Europe). The souk is not authentic and has the looks of a theme park, but if you are prepared to expect something like this it is nice here to spend an hour or two. If not, I recommend you to head in the direction of the old Deira-district.

  • Beautiful view of Burj Al Arab
This is a modern take on the old souks in Dubai. It has some very nice restaurants and hotels and a very nice view of the Burj Al Arab. The souks shopping is more expensive as compared to the old souks.

Souk Madinat Jumeirah is an authentic re-creation of an ancient marketplace with traditional Middle Eastern style and ambiance. Madinat Jumeirah comprises three grand hotels: Jumeirah Al Qasr, Jumeirah Mina Al Salam and the newly opened Jumeirah Al Naseem. Its a great place to visit as it has the typical middle architectural touch with blend of both the Middle East and the modern and is really a fascinating place as it amazes me each time I visit this place as it reminds you of a walk in the grand bazaar of Istanbul in Turkey where one can find small shops that sell their local ethnic goods, curios typical of Dubai and Arabian lights and lamps. There are also sovereign shops where one can see buy and carry back home a touch or reminisce of Dubai. There are a lot of restaurants there to choose from and one can get the imposing view of the Burj Al Arab that is a significant land mark of Dubai.
