Soak up the outdoors

Not only is Zabeel Park one of the largest parks in Dubai, but it’s also one of the first technology-driven green spaces in the Gulf.

Equivalent in size to 45 football fields, this tranquil spot is located in the centre of the city and is popular for a children’s amusement complex and expansive ‘edutainment’ centre.

Zabeel Park is home to the city's newest attraction, the Dubai Frame, from where visitors can take in incredible views of both old and new Dubai.

Explore three different zones to find a vast array of activities for yourself and your family: the Alternative Energy Zone, Communications Zone and the Techno Zone. They are all technology-based, featuring educational and interactive exhibits.

The park also offers live music, barbecue and picnic areas, restaurants and boat rides. It also hosts large exhibits like the Dubai Garden Glow during the cooler months. But, there are plenty of all-year-round facilities to enjoy, like the mega-bowl, galleries and sculptures.

You’ll also find sports options, aside from a pedestrian path, jogging track and fitness centre. Take your pick from mini-golf, cricket, skating, skateboarding and the BMX track.

  • Pretty park next to Dubai Frame but requires NOL card to enter
I explored Zabeel Park during a visit to the Dubai Frame which sits adjacent to this pretty city park. Zabeel Park is a large green space (close to Al Jafiliya Metro station) with jogging track around the perimeter. There is some free parking near the Frame but it is limited availability. There is a nominal park admission charge of 5 AED however you need a NOL card and as I didn't have one it cost me 25 AED for the card and admission, which was pretty steep just to enter the park as a tourist. Inside the park there are playing areas for children and pretty areas to explore. There used to be an amusement park here with a space-themed roller coaster however the coaster stands unused having closed several years ago. On my visit the park was pretty much deserted with just myself and a handful of people around...which meant it was very tranquil to wander and take some photos of the Dubai Frame and the derelict amusement park. Worth a visit if you have a NOL card but perhaps not worth buying the card just for the park alone.

  • A lovely park
The park is lovely and has a good variety of play areas for kids of all ages. They have a cover so ideal for the hotter weather. The toilets could have been cleaner. There is a lovely and clean masjid too. We went today and there was a holi festival involving a lot of colour. I think that spoilt it a little cos the toilets were horrible with colour all over them, very unclean. The women were washing themselves trying to take off the colour which I thought was a little inconsiderate for the other users. Weekend parking is a nightmare, but to be expected I guess. You need a card to get in. You can ask your own food in. I definitely recommend the park.

  • Great Park for everyone and anyone
I actually visited the park as I read about the Ripe market being there on the weekends, unfortunately it is not longer there. Instead they have a flea market which i obviously did not go to see but it was very busy so I spent most of the morning enjoying the lovely park instead and explored a new area. Its very large so you need to make a couple of trips !
