Drawing on social media star chef Kelvin Cheung's French training, Canadian roots and Asian heritage, Downtown Dubai-based Jun's has a prime location and proven pedigree. Expect North American comfort food, combined with Far Eastern and Indian flavours, served up in a comfortable yet chic setting with spectacular views of the Burj Khalifa from its Vida Downtown Residences perch.

Sand-hued interiors, white-brick walls and moody lighting creates an upmarket ambience, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a plant-lined terrace adding to the draw. But the best seats are undoubtedly at the chef's table, facing the open kitchen and offering up a finely-tuned culinary performance.

Seasonal, local and sustainable ingredients are a focus for award-winning Cheung, who is melding inspiration from stints in Hong Kong, Canada and India.

Gluten-free diners will find almost all dishes catering to them with innovative fine dining on the menu. Top plates include the tempura and sweet potato chaat, sitting alongside his take on a carrot, labneh and furikake 'bagel', spiced garlic prawns with Korean kimchi served on khichdi rice, and the Macau-sauce lobster. You'll be taken on a very personal foodie journey by this passionate chef.

When it comes to decadent desserts, there are yet more surprises. The boba crème brûlée nods to Cheung’s bubble tea shop, while local strawberries are teamed with yuzu cheesecake and meringue in a deliciously deconstructed Eton mess.
