Woo Wai Leong
Singaporean chef Woo Wai Leong is the first winner of MasterChef Asia. A lover of the classics for both food and drink, he has multiple skillsets such as craft cocktail bartending and working in different kitchen settings which he is keen to share with the F&B industry.
A qualified lawyer, he found his passion for the kitchen early on in life. By the time he hit his teens, he was already participating in several cooking competitions at university. During Asia’s first MasterChef competition, his presentation of the dessert – a fusion of Asian and Italian cooking styles - won the judges over.
Woo believes in coupling his fine cooking tastes and creativity with Asian products and traditional Chinese medicine to produce dishes that are comforting and familiar, yet new and exciting. He is currently writing his first cookbook that highlights various fusion cuisines and unique food pairings.
