Here’s where a Dubai fashion editor sources her treasures …
Dubai-based fashion editor Natascha Hawke has worked in the local fashion industry for more than 11 years for publications such as Harper’s Bazaar Arabia and Grazia Middle East. Here she shares her little black book of style, from the city’s hottest international stores to her favourite multi-brand, homegrown boutiques.
Harvey Nichols Dubai
I’m from London and cut my fashion teeth at Harvey Nichols browsing the rails weekly and dreaming about one day shopping up a storm. Dubai is lucky enough to be one of the only cities in the world to also house a Harvey Nicks and it does the original proud with its contemporary edit. If you’re a fan of Absolutely Fabulous you’ll know this is a must.

Etoile “La boutique”
Etoile is full of fantasy fashion for me – it’s full of gowns that I’d never have anywhere to wear, but are incredibly beautiful. It is also one of the only places to stock the colourful, architectural pieces of Roksanda, as well as Dior, Christopher Kane and Alaia. They also have some quirky little accessories for the home.

A beautifully edited beach boutique at The Beach on JBR, S*uce is one of the region’s most successful homegrown, multi-brand stores. From the dreamy kaftans and cover-ups, to luxury swimwear and quirky accessories, S*uce-On-Sea is by far the most fun to shop for swimwear.

As you can imagine from its name, Symphony is a beautifully orchestrated collection of jaw-dropping gowns by the likes of Oscar de la Renta and Giambattista Valli, to the contemporary cool of Sophie Hulme bags and Illesteva sunglasses. It is also home to numerous Arabian designers who have been championed by the founder Salama Alabbar, one of the region’s fashion entrepreneurs. Everyone from Noon by Noor to the frothy confections of Razan Alazzouni and Madiyah Al Sharqi can be found here.

Boutique 1 is the region’s favourite multi-brand store and for good reason. The first to introduce lesser-known brands to the region, buying director Bridget Cosgrave used to buy for Matches in London before taking over the helm to bring her sharp eye and undisputed knowledge to the region. Everything from Victoria Beckham and Raoul to Teatum Jones can be sourced here in a gloriously curated setting.

The go-to for glamorous but slightly retro dresses, Halston Heritage’s standalone store can be found at Mall of the Emirates. For everything from red carpet events to summer weddings, this is the first place to look for something extra special.

I’m a huge fan of the unisex aesthetic of The Kooples: blazers, skinny trousers and rock ‘n’ roll ankle boots. They now have two stores in Dubai, one in Marina Mall and one in The Dubai Mall, which keeps my tailored blazer habit satiated.

Undoubtedly the most luxe of all the high street stores, Zara’s intelligent edit of straight-from-runway style makes it a default for everyday fashion. Affordable but great quality, the Dubai stores have even better selections than Europe.

The Outlet Mall
It is rare that I’ll go to The Outlet Mall and spend less than eight hours there – the promise of finding the ultimate designer bargains means it is worth a whole day. Past trophies include a perfect pair of Stella McCartney heels, Melissa Odabash swimwear and a Sara Battaglia bag that I’d originally borrowed for a shoot, fallen in love with and then found again in Boutique 1’s outlet for a fraction of its original price. Don’t leave Dubai without a visit if you love a label.
